My rating: 4 of 5 stars
An eclectic mix of short stories combining aspects of horror, sci-fi and cyberpunk fiction, each story a tale of when technology goes that little bit too far and doesn't perform quite the way you'd imagine.
You can really feel the variety of influences throughout all of Tanweer Dar's 13 stories, from the likes of Philip K Dick's sci-fi to the horror of possibly Stephen King? Some are gruesome and gory; others moving and sad but all different and unique and never dull.
My personal favourites were "Virtual" - the story of a man becoming dependent on his VR gaming environment; "Infestation" - the story of mutating rodents taking over the city; "Trance" where a sadistic DJ uses the hypnotic quality of music for a grotesque competition and "Biohazard" which sees a contaminant break loose in a lab and how a young scientist deals with the ensuing madness.
It's great to support local authors and 13 stories for £2 on Amazon Kindle is an absolute steal for this collection of well written stories. Sci-fi, Cyberpunk, horror and thriller fans will all find something to like here.
