If you know Stewart Lee, you'll know what to expect from his writing in March Of The Lemmings. The first half is a collection of Lee's columns from the Observer detailing the progress up to Brexit and Lee's journalist persona's take on the increasingly disparaging political situation.
The second half is a transcript of his 18th month long tour show, essential about how hard it is to make a tour show that's monetarily viable for the entire duration of the unusually long tour when the country is in such a horrific state of political flux.
The added value of this books comes from the inclusion of Lee's (actual Lee this time and not a persona) footnotes, containing additional (and sometimes bizarre) interesting facts and information, behind the scenes detail and snippets from Lee's past. I recognise many of the places Lee refers to which made it extra enjoyable for me, as I'm from a similar area. Lee's primary school is one where I've worked.
It's typical Lee affair though, and you'll be hard pressed not to enjoy this if you're a fan. Interesting and laugh out loud funny. Not for everyone. Ripping of an Amazon review, maybe 48% of you will enjoy this book.
